Working closely with class teachers, you will be helping children to expand their knowledge and play a positive role in school life. You will utilise your knowledge, creativity and listening and communication skills to help children understand the information presented. You will be able to provide varying levels of individual attention, reassurance and support with learning tasks as appropriate to children’s individual needs.
As a HLTA, you will be responsible for:
• whole class teaching – covering PPA and leadership time
• setting up equipment and preparing the classroom for lessons, tidying up afterwards
• providing support to children who need additional help with their work
• helping pupils develop independent learning skills, manage their own learning and prioritise their time
• marking and record-keeping.

You will need to have relevant experience and/or qualifications in working with primary-aged children as you will be working under the supervision of the class teacher and/or SENDCo to support whole class learning, small targeted groups and/or individuals.
You must have completed a HLTA qualification or be happy to complete the training whilst taking on the role.
